Pollen!

Tarra White

Tarra White

So many images, so little time. Honest: I love springtime. Creative and other juices are coming but, but also pollen, unfortunately! This year they’re making me sleep almost all the time, that’s a bit annoying. But watching Tarra fucking this guy in that architectural white room easens the burden.

PHP shit

Britney Amber

Britney Amber

Sure, this WordPress update is well-intended, as always, but after reading the feature list I can’t but wonder why I should bother at all. Most of these features are nice to have, but certainly not vital. Why so many updates? It’s almost impossible to keep wordpress and updates at the same level: many plugin authors update their software only here and then, and that’s not even the worst solution given the fact that some of them lose interest in updates at all. Some WP updates are nail-biting events because of errors when migrating or malfunctioning updates; and when it’s not even that hot due to dispensable features…
The best update would be getting rid of this PHP shit. Continue reading

Tomorrow's Elite

Zafira and Lily LaBeau

Zafira and Lily LaBeau

The other worrying trend deals with so-called ‘microaggressions’. This worth-reading article describes a campus world where students are developing an extra-thin skin, making them demand a safe environment completely free from any disturbances. And the hurdles are low: even the slightest hint of discrimination, even if it barely sounds like one, becomes a risk for the alleged offender. Quotes like “America is a land of opportunity” or “Where were you born” become sharp weapons of discrimination and racism this way.
This is not only an American development: trigger warnings, even applied to classic literature, are not uncommon at universites in other countries, too. The defenders of the weak ones are greatly overstating their case, for their rigorous zero tolerance policy supports pathological thinking and an inability to handle alternate or opposing opinions. This is not far away from thought crime, and a smelly breeze of stalinism is blowing over from the campuses of colleges and universities. Watch out, this will be tomorrow’s elite.

Relationship Anarchy, Or: Sex And Nihilism

Alina Long, Jessica Fox

Alina Long, Jessica Fox

While polyamory isn’t for the faint of heart, this current trend gives me the chills: relationship anarchy is the new hot shit for people who probably consider themselves progressive. From outside, however, this ‘love without expectations’ is more than just living for the moment. If it’s really like described in this Motherboard article then it’s the current endpoint of consumerism. No questions, no obligations, no goals. It’s the old ‘No Future’ slogan, this time applied to your sex and love life. I can’t understand these people. To me, it seems like a life far away from any deeper feelings, like total isolation, drifting from and to disposable lovers. Continue reading

A Rotten Place

Do you know what makes the world a rotten place? It’s not porn, not at all. It’s bombings in cities and making a software AI a racist asshole. Against these expectorations of hell porn is absolutely harmless.
So we have war in the cities once more, dozens of people killed this time. This is not a war for or against something: it’s total nihilism. Unless the civilised world is going to accept this, this will continue. It’s not even a ‘war’, it’s a fight against life itself, because these guys dropping bombs, killing themselves and others are already lifeless. It’s an army of zombies that thinks it’s on its way to paradise, but their only message is death and extinction. (And the next guy who tells me that this can only be fought through celebrating life will receive a slap, because there’s nothing to celebrate after the death of many innocent people.) That’s number one.
And then there’s this shitty Microsoft AI that was trained to issue racist statements after only one(!) day: okay, it’s just shitty software, but really… this is making me sick. This is number two for making me think that this world is a rotten place where resistance is futile. But you might convince me from the contrary.

When Do We Call It Porn?

Kitty

Kitty

Just as a reminder: we’re investigating here the fine line between art, porn, and meaninglessness. And yes, this is the Mental Cinema. Revived. I’ve said yesterday: “minus the genitals”. But is the depiction of genitals already porn? When do we call it ‘porn’? And why? (Historical Mental Cinema records) Continue reading
